In our previous franchise blogs, you may have read a section where we have referred to a BNI Core
Value here or there. Did you know that BNI has 7 Core Values? Traditions + Innovations, Lifelong
Learning, Positive Attitude, Givers Gain®, Building Relationships, Accountability,
and Recognition are the
seven guideposts by which we conduct our business.

BNI is built on a set of guiding principles which form the foundation on which members interact, conduct

Givers Gain®: Throughout the organization all the core values serve a purpose. However, the principal
core value, or BNI’s heartbeat, is Givers Gain. BNI Founder and Chief Visionary Officer Dr. Ivan Misner

Accountability: Just like every Core Value here at BNI, Accountability plays a crucial role in the success of
Members and their businesses. After 37 years of growth, we know what Member success looks like, and
we provide every new Member the roadmap to achieve it. Be it a BNI leader or a fellow Chapter
Member, you will have support all around.

Recognition: Whether your achievement at BNI is big or small, we feel that it is important to recognize
your hard work. BNI wants to celebrate those victories with you to let you know that those

Accomplishments of 2021

BNI is the World’s Largest Referral Networking Organization and continues to experience worldwide growth with our National Directors, Chapters, and Members. BNI is proud to announce that in 2021, under the leadership of experienced franchise executive George Barlow and his team, they were able to expand BNI’s presence into five new countries. These countries were Mauritius, Mongolia, Panama, Czech Republic, the Republic of Ghana, and a reassignment in Barbados.   

George came onboard just over a year ago to lead the entire Global franchise development process, including overseeing the screening and recruiting systems. He also leads the annual updating and compliance of the franchise disclosure documents. George brings over two decades of franchise leadership, strategic planning, and execution to BNI.     

In the coming year, BNI’s development team is working diligently to begin operating in at least five new countries. The franchise development team carefully seeks out potential franchisee candidates who align with BNI’s core values. In 2022, BNI has a focus to expand within:

  • Algeria
  • Bangladesh
  • Egypt
  • Indonesia
  • Mozambique
  • Cote d’Ivoire

“We are excited about the growth we’ve experienced over the last year,” said George.  “We are well underway with in-depth conversations with well qualified candidates that will continue to move BNI forward for many years to come. Business Networking

What is Business Networking? Business networking is often described as the relationship between professionals. Business networkers could be business to business, clients, customers, members, etc. In most cases business networking will assist in the growth of one’s professional life.

There are many ways business networking can work. Since the pandemic, networking has changed in ways from in person to online. And, if you can remember, years ago networking was done by an individual going from door to door selling their services and or products by looking up numbers in a phone book. Now, networking often takes place with business professionals through networking events, where they talk about their services and products. During the events, business professionals discuss their needs, problems they face and how they can turn to one another for assistance.

International Networking Week 2022

Need help reigniting your 2022? As one year ends and one begins you might be feeling overwhelmed and or unfocused. It’s important to have a plan and to set priorities throughout the year for the continued growth of your business.

Hopefully you were able to join BNI’s International Networking week, moderated by our very own, George Barlow, Global Director of Franchise Development. During the live event, BNI’s Founder and Chief Visionary Officer Dr. Ivan Misner and Chairman and CEO Graham Weihmiller discussed the trends for 2022 along with the success of business and networking.

During Monday’s live YouTube event, Graham shared how BNI is starting to enter a normalization phase. It has been a long road, but he is confident that BNI’s recovery to surge is on its way. He talked about teams and the positivity of diversity and how important it is to work together. The more diverse teams and services are the more it will give BNI the ability to be more creative. Graham said that focusing on long lasting relationships and collaboration gives BNI the opportunity to be more sustainable.

Dr. Misner describes the online platform as the “new normal”. A lot of the changes that have been implemented are more new than normal as he mentions the importance of being open to change and finding new ways to run a business. Dr. Misner states how powerful referrals are and that it is the engine that drives business. The power of referrals won’t change. The only thing that could change is how referrals are made, he is a firm believer of being resilient, embracing change, and embracing technology to continue to be successful.

Finally, Graham mentioned how important technology is and the technology you choose is crucial. That’s why technology will continue to play a key role in how BNI does business and with the right training it will set up teams and services to be successful.

New Franchisee Joins BNI Barbados

As of December 27, 2021, BNI is pleased to announce that we now have a new franchise owner in Barbados. Hal Corbin has been an industry professional for 25 years in electronic security. Hal is the Managing Director of SecureOne Security Inc, which is an established electronic security company he founded back in 2006.

“I am passionate about mentorship and supporting young talent when it comes to helping people develop their skills in electronics” said, Hal Corbin.

Mr. Corbin has been part of the BNI culture for 15 years and has served in various roles, including Chapter President. Mr. Corbin has experience serving sectors of finance, education, paramilitary, and the government. With his wealth of experience, BNI believes that he will improve BNI Barbados as well as grow the franchise regionally throughout the Caribbean.

BNI and The Future

Following unprecedented times in 2020-2021, with no in-person meetings and travel restrictions, we all had to figure out how to move forward in this new normal.

Businesses from every industry no matter the size had to take a whole new approach on how to conduct business. Many had to shut down while others adapted and began working remotely using different platforms of teleconferencing. In 2020 alone, Zoom reported that there were more than 300 million individuals who were utilizing its platform daily.

While working remotely has been a challenge for some businesses, BNI has showed continued success with the use of platforms like Zoom and other evolving technologies. The continued communication between BNI team members, Franchise Owners, and chapter Members has been just as meaningful as if we were in-person.

Over the past few months BNI has built effective relationships through the help of online platforms. We have been able to conduct one to ones more frequently and efficiently. Not only are we able to communicate verbally but nonverbally as well.  Coordinating meetings with multiple individuals has been much more efficient and effective in many ways. BNI is even able to have group activities through the online platforms such as global and regional conventions, global employee meetings, and much more.

As we move forward and get better together through 2022, let’s not forget all that we have overcome. Here at BNI we wish you a very Happy New Year and all that is to come.
