New Franchisee Joins BNI Indonesia

On October 28, 2022 Indonesia became part of BNI. We welcome new National Directors Grace Hakim, Setio Priyono, and Eddy Surgiri. BNI Global, Inc. Head of Global Development George Barlow was pleased to welcome the newest National Directors. “I am thrilled to welcome our new Master Franchisees and friends to the BNI family. They have a reputation for excellent leadership and a passion for helping others.”

Grace has been involved with BNI since 2018 where she has been a Member of the Pioneer Chapter, a Member of the Grow Chapter, and a Launch Director Consultant. She has an impressive background in leadership, negotiation, marketing, and communication, with a bachelor’s degree in international trade.

Setio was also a Member of the Pioneer Chapter, starting in 2015. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration. His core skills are in accounting and finance, strategic management, auditing, and public relations.

Eddy holds a degree in architecture and is fluent in four languages. His skills include communication, ideation, problem solving, and critical thinking.

In a testimonial Grace, Setio, and Eddy said, “The three of us were inspired to build BNI chapters so that we can use BNI as a vehicle to help more SMEs in Indonesia. It was then that we decided this is the right momentum to be the National Directors of BNI Indonesia.”

Indonesia has already successfully built three chapters. The BNI Core Value of “Building Relationships” has shown through with the success of their chapters. The Members have contacts both locally and internationally. Those contacts occurred with the passing of referrals among numerous businesses. Grace, Setio, and Eddy are excited for their Members to continue to succeed.

BNI looks forward to the many successes awaiting BNI Indonesia.

Time Frame

Time Frame

Have you ever heard the saying “all good things take time”? Well, the most common question asked to the Development Team is: “How long does the process take to become a franchisee within the organization?” We take pride in the processes we use in developing a franchisee’s new country.

Our franchisees are coached throughout the whole process and never feel like they must go it alone. We are there every step of the way. Please refer to our blog from December 9th, 2021 for our process on becoming a franchisee owner. Once that is completed, there is still an estimated timeframe to develop that country successfully.

First, there is work within the business that needs to be done, which consists of building the home Region. This step can take an estimated of six-to-eight months, consisting of learning how to launch BNI Chapters and learning how to support those Chapters.

Second, there is work on the business. This includes recruiting the Leadership Team, coaching them to launch Chapters, and. finally, coaching them to support those Chapters. The duration of this step is between twelve and eighteen months.

Finally, once the franchise has run successfully for 24 months, you will have the opportunity to sub-franchise.

You can contact our Development Team here to find out more information related to BNI Franchising.

How BNI Chooses Their Potential Franchisees

You may have read or viewed our blog from December 9th, 2021, Franchising, and the Process. Within that blog, BNI staff talks about the process we take once we choose our franchisees and what that process looks like. However, before a franchisee reaches out about the opportunity, or before BNI receives a referral, the Franchise Development Team ensures they would be a good candidate.

BNI’s Development Team thoroughly reviews candidates before moving them on to the next process. That process can vary depending on who the prospect is and in which territory they are looking to franchise. Sometimes our prospects are referrals, previous or current Members, Directors in another territory, etc. However, if our prospect is new to BNI, there are a series of questions that BNI’s Development Team takes our prospects through prior to meeting with our Director of Global Franchise, George Barlow. Some of the questions our prospects can expect are:

  1. Where are you originally from?
  2. Where are you currently located?
  3. How did you hear about BNI? (If you were referred by a BNI member, what is their name, BNI region, BNI Chapter name?)
  4. Have you attended any BNI chapter meetings?
  5. What type of business are you in?
  6. How much cash do you have to invest within the BNI franchise opportunity?

BNI’s Development Team likes to thoroughly vet our prospects to make sure they would be a good fit for BNI and vice versa. We like to get to know our prospects on a personal level before moving forward to build better relationships.

BNI’s franchise website is a great tool for our potential franchisees, as it goes into detail of what BNI is looking for in their prospects. Not only does our website explain what we are looking for in our franchisees but there are sections where BNI goes into detail about what the franchise opportunity entails.

If you or someone you know is interested in one of BNI’s open territories, please reach out to us at franchise@bni.com.

Franchise Support

Franchise Support

Back in November, 2021 we launched our “Franchising, is it Right for You?” blog. In the second-to-last sentence within that blog BNI team members briefly talk about having a mentor to guide our franchisees and answer questions that arise while learning BNI’s franchise business. The relationship between the franchisor and the new Master Franchisees are so important and the support BNI provides is unmatched.

Once a franchisee purchases a new territory, they are designated a team member to assist with their onboarding process. In addition to the guidance from a team member, BNI has resource centers as well, consisting of BNI Connect and BNI University. However, during the process of becoming a Master Franchisee, BNI’s Development and Operations Team goes over in detail the kind of support we provide. Our franchisers will know what they can expect long before signing any documentation.

A new franchisee here at BNI should never feel concerned about stepping into their new role. Even though our franchisees are considered independent business owners, they can expect to build lifelong relationships and have the support they need to carry on throughout and beyond their onboarding.

You will not only have the support from team members and online resources, but from marketing materials as well. A new franchisee is provided a kit filled with all the marketing materials to get you started in your new position. These materials will be provided for you to promote not only BNI but the Master Franchisee in the new territory. This will assist our new franchisees and allow them to be their most successful.

Interested in becoming a Master Franchise? Check out BNI’s available opportunities here. We have team members waiting to meet you!

Brand Awareness

In our blogs, we often refer to BNI’s Core Values as one of the most important details we embrace. In addition, our branding standards and logos are critical to our success.

If you have been involved in BNI for more than two years, you may have noticed that our branding and logos have changed from their original design. This evolution reflects BNI’s growth and forward thinking.

Whenever we are discussing BNI’s Core Values, brand, logos, mission statement, tools, and related collateral, we are referring to the components that contribute to BNI’s brand awareness.

When a company has strong brand awareness, the opportunities for success increase. For the past 37 years, BNI has been consistent in their marketing to create brand awareness as the world’s leading referral organization. It takes years of development and implementation to ensure BNI’s brand awareness consistently meets the needs of its targeted audience.

BNI and Why We Share Our Successes

We are now six months into 2022 and you might have seen our blog from April 1st, 2022 here discussing 2021 and all that BNI had accomplished. You can even expect another blog to be published on the successes of 2022 once the year comes to an end. One of our core values at BNI is Recognition. Therefore, not only do we recognize our BNI Team Members, National Directors, Executive Directors, Chapter Members, etc. and their successes but, we also know how important it is to discuss BNI’s successes.

BNI does not share successes as bragging but to show the continuous growth of our franchisees all around the world. BNI changes the way the world does business and the more we discuss that the more countries and businesses get to experience and celebrate in our success.

It is important to us, not only celebrate the launch of a new country but to put our new National Directors in the spotlight as they demonstrate their dedication to BNI’s growth. This is what guides BNI’s culture; bringing out the best of BNI Team Members, National Directors, Executive Directors, and Members, to ensure that they feel valued.

If you are a part of BNI in any way you can count on being recognized for your hard work and dedication.

BNI Core Values

In our previous franchise blogs, you may have read a section where we have referred to a BNI Core
Value here or there. Did you know that BNI has 7 Core Values? Traditions + Innovations, Lifelong
Learning, Positive Attitude, Givers Gain®, Building Relationships, Accountability,
and Recognition are the
seven guideposts by which we conduct our business.

BNI is built on a set of guiding principles which form the foundation on which members interact, conduct
themselves and fulfill their goals. At BNI, we’re Changing the Way the World Does Business®.

Givers Gain®: Throughout the organization all the core values serve a purpose. However, the principal
core value, or BNI’s heartbeat, is Givers Gain. BNI Founder and Chief Visionary Officer Dr. Ivan Misner
says “We give because we understand that in a community, what we do, others will do, and we all
benefit. We give because we know that in the same situation others would do the same for us. We give
because we want to give back where we have profited before. We give because when we work together,
we get bigger and better results than working on our own. We give because we enjoy it”.

Traditions + Innovation: Following along with BNI’s traditions will guide you through the lens of BNI’s
past, present, and future. You will be able to learn and teach what we focus on everyday here at BNI.
Even though BNI has traditions, we encourage the new ideas from individuals.

Lifelong Learning: The knowledge you share when you join BNI doesn’t end there. Whether you are a
current franchisee, future franchisee, or a member, you will have the opportunity to continue to learn.
Who is it that you want to become? Or how do you see yourself helping others become who they want
to be? At BNI, you will be encouraged and supported to continue to grow in a variety of ways.

Positive Attitude: Being a part of BNI means being a part of a network that flourishes on positive
attitude. On The Official BNI Podcast: Episode 501 BNI Founder and Chief Visionary Officer Dr. Ivan
Misner says “A positive attitude makes people want to associate and cooperate with you. Positive
business professionals are like magnets. Others want to be around them and will send their friends,
family, and associates to them.”

Building Relationships: When you join BNI you will be given the opportunity to build relationships with
like-minded individuals. You will not only have the opportunity to build relationships with BNI staff but
with National Directors, Executive Directors, Members, etc. These relationships you create will give you
the chance to surround yourself with others who want to see you succeed.

Accountability: Just like every Core Value here at BNI, Accountability plays a crucial role in the success of
Members and their businesses. After 37 years of growth, we know what Member success looks like, and
we provide every new Member the roadmap to achieve it. Be it a BNI leader or a fellow Chapter
Member, you will have support all around.

Recognition: Whether your achievement at BNI is big or small, we feel that it is important to recognize
your hard work. BNI wants to celebrate those victories with you to let you know that those
achievements matter to us and that we are proud of all the work you put in.

What Core Value do you want to focus on?
