Becoming a franchise owner with BNI is exciting and just like any new venture one pursues it takes time. There are many different steps BNI takes to ensure our new franchisees have a good experience with the help from our development team. During this process the development team and the franchisee can make sure they are a good fit for each other.
The first step begins with establishing a relationship with different members from our Franchise Development department. During this process the team will take the time to get to know the prospective franchisee and find out information such as their involvement with BNI (ex. member, director, referral, etc.), relationship skills, comfortability with technology, ability to network, brand passion, and much more.
The next step in the process is we ask the candidate to attend a chapter meeting if they haven’t already. This step will help the candidate understand the formula for a successful chapter meeting and how members share referrals with each other.
After a successful chapter visit and meeting with other team members the candidate will then meet with George Barlow, Head of Global Franchise Development. If the prospective franchisee’s goals are congruent to BNI’s then George will discuss more details, including pricing along with the development schedule.
The Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) will be the next step in the process. This will usually take place fourteen days prior to the franchisee signing the agreement. The FDD provides information about the franchise, the franchisor, franchisee expectations, financial responsibilities, etc. that the franchisee will need to review. It will give the new franchisee a clear depiction of the business that will be conducted between franchisor and franchisee.
One of our final steps will be attending VIP Day where members of our leadership team and the candidate spend a few hours together. This is the opportunity where the candidate gets to present their business plan and ask questions from various department heads at BNI.
Becoming a franchisee owner with BNI may take some time to complete as we take each step slowly and carefully to ensure this opportunity is a good fit for you. For more information about becoming a franchise owner, please visit us Here.
